SUMMARY:Women's Bible Study
DESCRIPTION:Women’s Bible Study King Jesus:\nFulfilling the Law and the Prophets\nA Two-Year Study of the Gospel of Matthew\n\nFrom its very first verse\, the Gospel of Matthew links Jesus to the Hebrew Scriptures\, declaring him to be the Messiah (Christ) and connecting him to David and Abraham. Matthew’s Gospel is permeated by the Old Testament\, containing approximately 50 direct quotations from the books of the Law\, the Prophets\, and the Psalms. In many of these cases\, Matthew states that Jesus in some way fulfilled what was spoken by a particular prophet. In the Sermon on the Mount\, Jesus himself declared\, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” (Matthew 5:17\, ESV)In order to thoroughly study the Gospel of Matthew\, we are spreading it over two years. In 2024-25\, we will study Jesus’ Galilean Ministry (Chapters 1-13) and in 2025-26\, we will read about Jesus’ Journey to Jerusalem (Chapters 14-28). In the first part of the study\, we will learn about Jesus’ origins and the beginning of his ministry. We will study the Sermon on the Mount in depth\, allowing us to ponder over living in Jesus’ kingdom. We will experience Jesus’ power over disease\, nature\, and even demonic forces as we read about three sets of three miracles. We will examine Jesus’ claims and the responses to them. Then we will conclude with seven parables of the kingdom. \nWe will once again hold two separate meeting times:\n• Wednesday Evenings 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. via Zoom\, starting on September 11\n• Thursday Mornings 9:45 – 11:30 a.m. in person at NAPC\, starting on September 12

Meeting every Sunday during the school year in the Lil Sphere immediately after the Young Disciples message\, this group provides a fun and engaging environment to explore faith and creativity. \nOur young singers delight in singing\, playing tambourines\, dancing\, and learning to worship Jesus through music. Throughout the year\, they have the opportunity to share their joyful worship during church services\, bringing smiles and inspiration to our congregation. \nFor more information about the Cherub Choir\, please contact Ms. Vernay Dabney at vernaysoprano@yahoo.com. \n  \nJUNIOR CHOIR (First-Fifth grade) Sunday Mornings. \nThe Junior Choir at North Avenue welcomes children in grades 1 through 5 to grow their faith and musical skills through worship. Meeting on Sunday mornings after the Young Disciples message\, this group builds on earlier experiences in the Cherub Choir by introducing musical notation\, simple two-part harmony\, vocal technique\, and listening skills. \nGuided by the scripture\, “… sing with the spirit\, but also with the understanding” (I Corinthians 14:15)\, the Juniors not only learn songs but also deepen their understanding of Christ and His teachings. They explore movement-based worship through expressive choreography\, combining music with creative expression to enhance their praise. \nThe Junior Choir joyfully participates in worship services throughout the year\, including Palm Sunday and the Christmas season. In addition\, they take part in Lessons and Carols and showcase their talents with a staged musical in mid-summer as part of the Fine Arts Camp. \nFor more information about the Junior Choir\, please contact Dr. Laura Jeon at laura@napc.org.

SUMMARY:The Sphere & Lil Sphere Sunday School
DESCRIPTION:During adult discipleship classes\, the infant to kindergarten young disciples in The Lil Sphere are learning. They partake in fun\, interactive bible lessons tailored to their age range. \n  \nThe Sphere is our Sunday morning program for first grade through fifth grade at the 11:15 a.m. Discipleship hour. During this time\, our first through fifth-grade students will experience a large group time of creative Bible teaching that focuses on understanding and applying God’s word in our relationship with Him and others. This is followed by activities in small groups that build relationships between the children and Jesus\, their peers\, and their leaders and applying God’s word to their lives. We intentionally focus on the faith skills of Hearing (listening to God’s word)\, Praying (having a dialogue with God)\, Talking (articulating our faith)\, and Living (worshipping God with our lives).

SUMMARY:Ash Wednesday Worship
DESCRIPTION:Join us in the Sanctuary at 6:30 PM for our Ash Wednesday worship service as we embark on the Lenten season. On this day of reflection and repentance\, we invite you to participate in the imposition of ashes\, a sacred tradition symbolizing humility and mortality. Let us gather in unity to contemplate the significance of this season\, seeking a deeper connection with our faith and a renewed commitment to spiritual growth. The service will include prayers\, scripture readings\, and the poignant act of receiving ashes on our foreheads. Come and be a part of this contemplative and spiritually enriching experience as we commence the journey towards Easter. There is no Noon Service this year.

SUMMARY:Moments That Matter
DESCRIPTION:We know our middle and high schoolers are the heart and future of the church. Yet it can feel like they live in a completely different world. In this Moments that Matter\, we will tackle how to listen and talk to teens about faith\, purpose\, and identity. We’ll explore what we can learn from our youth and how we can show them what we have learned on our own faith journeys. \nThis class is for parents and grandparents of teens and soon-to-be-teens. It is for those who have teens in their life that they would like to know more deeply. For that matter\, it is for anyone who has ever answered “We do” to the question asked at a baptism:  “Do you\, as members of the church of Jesus Christ\, promise to guide and nurture this child by word and deed…?” \nSundays\, March 9\, 16\, and 23 during the discipleship hour in BMC Classroom A.
